The husband you want to be
What do you do when you’re struggling at a husband you want to be? Maybe you’re a “just can’t seem to get it right” kind of husband. We’ve all been there. It’s not for the faint of heart, this whole husband thing. Let’s bring it back to basics.
An Uncommen Husband is a man that has a calling to be the other side of the “Help Mate” that God created in the garden of Eden. A man that understands that God has designed him to not only lead well but love well and serve well. The Bible speaks to the role of a man often, and yet we still struggle with direction in our lives. We know what God expects of men, so we have no excuses.
Whether you are newlyweds, celebrating your 20th anniversary, or marking a lifetime together, every marriage needs work. Investing time in God’s word, spending time in prayer, and thoughtful communication will put you on the right path to a better marriage.
If you’ve never done a marriage study before, start with God’s Word. Read through the book of Ephesians, as its a book that often talks about marriage, and what God’s Word says your marriage should look like. After you’ve completed that, consider outside sources like “5 Love Languages – Gary Chapmen”, or similar books.

Ephesians 5:25-33
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
